Dexter
Gordon - Go!
Dexter "Long-Tall" Gordon, who's birthday is on Februrary 27th,
was an incredible individual. This Blue Note recording from the 60's is
a classic of the era. His big "laid-back-behind-the-beat" sound
has been copied by many saxophonists since. He lived in Europe for almost
15 years before returning to the U.S. in the late 70's. His later career
included stints as an actor as well, as he was featured in "Round
'Bout Midnight," the film based loosely on Bud Powell's life in Paris.
