Title: Song For Today
Personnel: Matthew Fries (piano), Bill Mobley (trumpet), Vincent Herring (alto sax), Vinson Valega (drums), Greg Ryan (bass)
Recorded: 1999
Label: TCB Music
Comments: Matthew is one of the "hot" new pianists on the scene in New York City these days, and this recording is his debut on a major label. Matthew's music comes alive on this CD, as he arranged all the horn parts, while adding a beautiful solo piano track at the end of the CD. Matthew has a playing style all his own, and his compositions are sublime and swinging, all at the same time! He has a killer website, too!

Title:
Tri-Fi
Personnel: Matthew Fries (piano), Keith Hall (drums), Phil Palombi (bass)
Recorded: 2004
Label: CAP Records
Comments:  Matthew, Phil and Keith have been working together regularly as Curtis Stigers' band for the last few years. While performing with Curtis in NYC in June 2004, a couple days were set aside to record this new album. The album is almost entirely made up of original compositions - four contributed by Matthew, three by Phil, and three by Keith - plus one arrangement of a standard where Curtis Stigers lends his vocal talents. It's an album with a wide mix of music - and a representation of the kind of musical communication that only comes from a "working band."
